Description
Pinetarsol gel contains pine tar 1.6%, glycerol 5% and surfactants. It has a pH of 6.
Action
Pharmacotherapeutic Group: Anti-inflammatory and antipruritic.
Pharmacology: Gentle soap alternative with anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties. May be used as an adjunct treatment in hand dermatitis and other sun exposed areas, as pine tar is not sun sensitising. The pH of 6 maintains the skin's slightly acid nature and helps protect it against microorganisms.
Indications/Uses
Relief of itching and inflammation associated with dermatitis, eczema, chicken pox, heat rash, psoriasis and urticaria.
Use as an adjunct treatment for dermatitis, anal and genital itching, jogger's groin rash, inflamed scaly skin and other minor skin irritations.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply to wet skin and smooth gently over the affected area. Leave on for 2-3 min, rinse lightly, then pat dry (do not rub). Use as often as required whenever inflamed areas are washed.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of Pinetarsol Gel.
Special Precautions
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If any lather enters the eyes, flush with clean water. Do not use of broken skin.
